The guided full-service daytrip includes walking through the peat bog (3 km) and canoeing on the river (7 km), and you will also learn how to build the traditional dugout-canoe called haabjas in Estonian.
We pick you up at your hotel in Pärnu and drive to Soomaa National Park , a vast wilderness area, just 30 kilometres from Pärnu. At the vistitor centre of Soomaa National Park you will be introduced about natural and cultural values of Soomaa by watching a video-film. After that we continue to Basecamp Karuskose , in the middle of the national park. Very characteristic and special to this area of regular floods, is the building and use of traditional log-boats (haabjas). During the “fifth season" of Soomaa - season of high waters, these log-boats have been the only mode of transportation. We will look how such boats are made and go for a short bog-walking to Kuresoo bog (about 3 kilometres).
Wildresness lunch. After lunch we will have a canoeing trip (about 7 kilometres) on the Raudna river. In the afternoon we take you back to Pärnu. Arrival about 17.00
